Ahhh – The Sky is Falling – Well, not really
The buzz about “Caffeine” started around September of last year. According to a Google senior member Google’s “Caffeine” algorithm update is 80% rolled out as of April 23rd. Let the panic begin.
The fact is that Google implements hundreds of algorithm changes every year. Even in light of this there is always a lot of whoop-la over Google Algorithm changes, and “Caffeine” is no different. SEO’s and agencies are up in arms trying to determine and mitigate the effects of Google’s data center changes.
According to Google’s Matt Cutts when responding to the lack of noticeable differences he stated, “most of the changes are in things like our core indexing, so there’s less changes for things like rankings. Lots of users won’t notice a big difference.”
The important thing to remember regarding your site’s visibility within the search engines is to continue to focus on strong fundamentals.
- Optimize your site for your customer. Have a site that your customers want to visit with strong content, resources and tools.

Optimize your site for the search engines. Yes, you can do both. There are too many to list them all but some of the basics include:
- Title Tags
- Header Tags
- Body Text and Content
- Images
- Utilize a strong link building campaign. Focus on sites that would compliment, not compete with, yours. Find out who the sites listed above yours are linked to.
Follow the basics and stay within the Google’s posted best practices and guidelines to keep your site in their good graces.
